STORAGE CONTAINER FIRE IN WARRENTON CAUSES MAJOR DAMAGE

A storage container fire that occurred this (Tuesday) morning in Warrenton led to major property damage.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, the fire was reported a little after 9am at the Bar W Field in Warrenton off of Highway 237.

The Round Top-Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department along with Sheriff’s Deputy Duane Meagher responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found smoke coming from a storage container that contained antiques.

Firefighters extinguished the flames, and managed to keep them from spreading any further than the storage container.

Korenek said that the fire was caused by an individual welding on the container, which ignited some wooden material on the inside.

The damage caused by the fire is estimated at $40,000.
