The city issued two permits totaling $2,541,164 to Clayton Collier of Collier Construction, pertaining to the Wilkins Valley subdivision.  The permits are for street design on North Saeger Street and for the second phase of site development.

Another permit was issued for $877,468 for the second phase of civil construction at the Heritage Oaks subdivision.  Work is contracted to Collier Construction.

Six new homes were permitted in October for $1,388,439, including one for $624,679 for a residence on Oak Hollow Lane.  So far this year, 101 new homes have been permitted for $17,278,301.

Through 2024 to date, the city’s permits come out to 270 on $43,665,794.  In comparison, this time last year had 343 permits for $37,022,061.

  1. Wow. 18% more cost for 73 fewer permits. If you can’t see the out of control national economic inflation with these numbers. There is a problem. This is why property owners need a major property tax rebate.

    1. Just be ready to pay 20 percent more for the affordable houses the city said is being built. This will raise the property tax values for everyone next year. Dont worry, the tax rate will stay the same. And the streets are still falling apart. City really is broke.

    2. Inflation might be part of that equation, but most likely it will have more to do with the types of properties and size/design of buildings that permits were sought for. If 2023 had a higher number of modest homes built and 2024 had a larger mix of commercial properties and large homes, you can’t really make an apples to apples comparison.

      1. With the majority of all raises in the last four years going to upper government management and with the working class public being more concerned with inflation. I am not surprised that upper government is not concerned with paying an extra dollar or more for a dozen of eggs and double for everything else. Therefore, government management employees are self indulgent and in denial of the actual run away inflation.
