BURTON ISD INVESTIGATES REPORTED THREAT

Burton ISD Administrators have sent a letter out to parents regarding an incident that was reported earlier today (Wednesday).

Superintendent Vikki Curry said that an incident occurred involving a student who made an inappropriate statement, which was reported as a potential threat of violence.

Upon being notified, school administration and the School Resource Officer immediately launched a thorough investigation into the situation.

Curry said that she wants to assure the community that the student did not pose any threat to the safety of the school.

Burton ISD reminds all parents and guardians about the importance of open communication concerning safety. If you or your child becomes aware of any threats or concerning behaviors, they urge you to report them immediately.

You can contact the school district directly or submit a statement through the Bully Complaint/Violence Form available on the Burton ISD website under the Student and Parent tabs.

They also encourage parents to have discussions with their children about the serious consequences of making threats, even in jest, and to emphasize the importance of being responsible and thoughtful in their actions and words.

It is essential that students understand that threats are taken seriously and can have significant repercussions.

Curry added that they are keeping parents and guardians informed of all events to maintain transparency and to encourage their support and involvement in this matter.
