FOUR CALLS MONDAY, ONE EARLY TUESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out four times on Monday and once early this (Tuesday) morning.

At 2:45 p.m. Monday, firefighters were called out to the 900 block of Highway 290 West for a transportation incident.  Units arrived to find a single vehicle off the roadway, with the driver not able to get out.  They removed the patient from the vehicle and helped EMS carry the patient to the roadway before returning to service.

The department was called at the same time to a report of a gas odor at Focused Care at Brenham, 1303 Highway 290 East.  Firefighters made location to find the City of Brenham Gas Department already at the scene.  They discovered some pilot lights that were not burning, so the gas department relit the pilots while the fire department returned to service.

Approaching 7 p.m., BFD members were dispatched to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for an alarm sounding.  They arrived to find a pull station activated, so they reset the pull station and alarm before clearing the scene.

At 7:15 p.m., firefighters received a report of a transportation incident at Highway 36 North and West Blue Bell Road.  There, they found a three-vehicle accident with minor damage.  Units checked for injuries and found none, and they soon cleared the call.

At 12:15 a.m. today, the fire department went out to Kountry Boys Sausage, 1909 Longwood Drive, for an alarm sounding.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building.  Upon entering, firefighters found a cleaning company cleaning the building and discovered that steam from the cleaning crew set the alarm off.  They reset the alarm and returned to service.
