Lanny Williams has been named Manor ISD’s new Athletic Director. With over two decades of experience in athletic leadership and coaching, Williams brings a wealth of expertise, ready to support the district’s athletic programs and strengthen community engagement around student sports.
Williams most recently served as the Assistant Director of Athletics at Killeen ISD, where he was responsible for supervising three high schools and six middle schools, overseeing critical functions such as scheduling, budgeting, and staff recruitment.
He managed high school and middle school sports programs across football, basketball, baseball, track, and swim, successfully increasing student participation and improving team performance.
His leadership at Killeen ISD was marked by a commitment to student safety and program integrity, ensuring compliance with University Interscholastic League (UIL) standards and implementing policies to help support student-athletes.
Before his time in Killeen, Williams worked extensively with Brenham ISD and Cedar Park High School. As Brenham ISD’s Assistant to the Director of Athletics, he managed junior high athletic programs and initiated community engagement efforts to boost student-athlete support.
He also has an impressive record as a head baseball coach at both Cedar Park and Brenham high schools, where he set team records and coached numerous athletes who went on to play at the collegiate and professional levels.
“When we began our search for a new Athletic Director, we conducted a community survey, and integrity emerged as the top quality our community wanted in a candidate,” said Manor ISD Superintendent Dr. Robert Sormani. “After considering this feedback, evaluating our district’s needs, and conducting a statewide search that resulted in 45 applicants, Lanny Williams stood out. He not only embodies the integrity our community values, but he also brings the experience and leadership necessary to support our scholars, coaches, and athletic programs. Williams exceeded our expectations, and I am confident he will be a tremendous asset to Manor ISD.”
Williams expressed his excitement about joining the Manor ISD team, stating, "I am honored to join the Manor ISD community and look forward to building on the district’s legacy of excellence in athletics. My goal is to create an inclusive, competitive environment where all student-athletes can thrive and where our coaches are empowered to lead with integrity and passion."
Williams will now lead Manor ISD’s athletic department, focusing on program development, student engagement, and community partnerships to help Manor ISD students excel both on and off the field. His dedication to student success, safety, and sportsmanship aligns perfectly with Manor ISD’s commitment to creating opportunities that prepare students for their future endeavors.
