FOOD FOR FAMILIES FOOD DRIVE DEC. 4; VOLUNTEERS REQUESTED
Washington County and surrounding counties are partnering to help stop hunger through the 29th Annual KBTX Food for Families Food Drive.
Multiple locations across the Brazos Valley will be open on Wednesday, December 4th from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., accepting non-perishable food and monetary donations. Washington County’s drop-off location will be the Washington County Expo food court in Brenham.
Contributions stay local to the county they are donated in. In Washington County, those contributions will benefit Bread Partners of Washington County, Burton Bridge Ministry, Faith Mission & Help Center, and Prairie Hill Food Pantry.
Recommended donation items include canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, beans, pasta, cereal, condiments, peanut butter, rice, soups and stews, tomato products and ready-to-eat snacks.
Other area collection sites will include the MidSouth Electric Co-op operations facility in Navasota, St. Mary’s Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church parish hall in Caldwell, Brazos Center in Bryan, Pridgeon Community Center in Franklin, First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Hearne and Son-Shine Outreach Center in Madisonville.
Volunteers are needed to work the event in Brenham, including people to greet visitors, unload vehicles, track and sort food donations, and provide entertainment and holiday spirit. A link to register to volunteer can be found here.
