MORE HOLIDAY EVENTS HAPPENING AROUND AREA THIS WEEKEND

  

Holiday festivities continue this weekend, with many more events to look forward to around the region.

Here are some of those events:

  • Chappell Hill’s activities begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Chappell Hill Garden Club’s Christmas Home Tour, featuring six decorated properties and the Round Top Ruggers’ annual rug show.  Tickets can be purchased at the Bluebonnet House at the event.  At 3:30 p.m., downtown will open up for a meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a snow play area and snow slide, a petting zoo, Christmas crafts, a hot cocoa bar, and the famous Teddy Bear Parade along Main Street.
  • The Burton Christmas Market & More will take place on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Oliver Whitener-Roy Winkler Pavilion.  Vendors will be selling hand-crafted local items and baked goods, and there will be a silent auction.  Santa will make an appearance for photos from 1 to 3 p.m.  Community carolers will perform from 3 to 4 p.m.
  • Independence will host its annual live nativity scene, “Bethlehem in Independence”, on Saturday and Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.  Guests can walk or take hayrides through the nativity that starts at the school house.  Hamburgers, hot dogs, cookies, s’mores, spiced tea and hot chocolate will be served.  Santa Claus will be there both nights for pictures.
  • The Brenham Children’s Chorus’ holiday concert, “Christmas Memories”, will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center at Blinn College.  Tickets are available at the door. 
  • The Barnhill Center will host “The 3 Redneck Tenors Christmas” on Saturday at 7 p.m.  Tickets can be bought at https://thebarnhillcenter.com
  • Brenham High School’s Cub Company will present “Elf Jr.: The Musical” from Sunday to Thursday in the Brenham High School Auditorium.  Sunday’s performance will be at 2 p.m., with the remaining shows from Monday to Thursday at 7 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased at https://cubcompany.booktix.com.
  • St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill’s drive-thru live nativity scene will be on display from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.  Homemade cookies, hot chocolate and apple cider will be served. 
  • Caldwell’s “Christmas on the Square” celebration is Friday in downtown beginning at 6 p.m., with music and dance performances followed by a lighted parade at 7 p.m.
  • Downtown Navasota will host its “Home for the Holidays” event on Saturday.  Visitors can shop at a farmer’s market at the Navasota Public Library beginning at 9 a.m.  From 1 to 5 p.m., Santa will take photos at Navasota City Hall, and there will be a petting zoo, bounce houses, Polar Express train rides, Christmas cookie decorating and hot chocolate.  A parade through downtown gets underway at 6 p.m., followed by a community tree lighting ceremony and caroling.
  • Fayetteville’s “Country Christmas” celebration will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with shopping and dining, arts and crafts booths, a tour of historic homes, a Christmas tree decorating contest display, photos with Santa, a lighted parade at 5:30 p.m. and live music.

KTEX-106 will be broadcasting live tonight (Friday) from Caldwell’s Christmas on the Square and will also be on hand tomorrow (Saturday) for the Chappell Hill Teddy Bear Parade and Home for the Holidays in Navasota.
