WASHINGTON CO. OFFICIALS TO BE SWORN IN FOR NEW TERMS JAN. 1
New and returning elected officials in Washington County will be sworn in on New Year’s Day.
Washington County Commissioners will hold a special meeting that morning at 9 a.m. in the district courtroom of the Washington County Courthouse, where they will administer the oath of office to incoming officials from the 2024 elections. They will also recognize outgoing officials for their years of service to the county.
Several new faces will soon lead county government. Among those will be Trey Holleway, succeeding Otto Hanak for the role of sheriff. Holleway defeated David Blakey in the March Republican primary and was unopposed in the November general election.
Derek Estep will begin his elected term as District Attorney, filling the post of Julie Renken. Estep defeated Dave Bunger in the Republican primary and did not have an opponent in November.
For Precinct 1 County Commissioner, Misti Hartstack Corn will join the commissioners court. Hartstack Corn defeated Don Koester in the Republican primary and was uncontested in November.
Brad Kuecker will receive the oath for Precinct 3 Constable, a position formerly held by David Blakey prior to his resignation to run for sheriff. Kuecker bested Damon Wegner in the Republican primary and ran unopposed in the fall.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Kirk Hanath will be sworn in for another term after defeating Billy Ruemke in the Republican primary. Hanath has served on the court since 2004.
New officials who were unopposed in both March and November will be 335th District Court Judge John Winkelmann, succeeding Reva Towslee Corbett, and Precinct 2 Constable Seth Klehm, replacing Trey Holleway as he takes on the role of sheriff.
Five returning officials who were uncontested in both the spring and fall elections will be administered the oath. They are 21st District Court Judge Carson Campbell, County Attorney Renee Mueller, County Tax Assessor-Collector Cheryl Gaskamp, Precinct 1 Constable Ken Holle and Precinct 4 Constable Greg Rolling.
