BRENHAM FIRE MARSHAL ADVISES CAUTION, CARE FOR NEW YEAR’S CELEBRATIONS

  

Brenham fire officials are reminding the public to be careful and considerate as they ring in 2025.

Washington County has received a healthy amount of rain in recent days, meaning many people will be looking to set off fireworks.    

Brenham Fire Marshal Steven Loving reminds residents that City of Brenham ordinance prohibits the possession, discharge, transport, storing, offering for sale or presence of any fireworks, both inside the city and within 5,000 feet of city limits.

Loving says there are several things to keep in mind when using fireworks.

In addition, anyone discharging fireworks should never do so toward another person and should be respectful of how the fireworks might affect their neighbors and animals.  Fireworks also cannot be sold to children under 16.

Once the fireworks have gone off and the show is over, Loving says proper disposal takes important steps.

For everyone else, Loving reminds travelers to drive responsibly and find another person to take the wheel if they have been drinking.  Anyone with an open fire, such as a manufactured fire pit or campfire, needs to have a screen over it.
