CITY OF BRENHAM TO BEGIN MAJOR DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS MONDAY

The City of Brenham plans to start work Monday on seven major drainage improvement projects.

The project areas include the Burleson Street low water crossing, Higgins Branch Creek at Henderson Park, Hogg Branch Creek from Key Street to Day Street, Jefferson Street, Baylor Street, East Commerce Street, Dark Street, Seelhorst Street, Clinton Street and Tom Dee Street.

Work will begin with the Jefferson Street and Higgins Branch at Henderson Park projects, with crews scheduled to start on Monday.

The city says the improvements will enhance the safety and accessibility of the affected areas, particularly during significant storm events.

In August, the city opened bids for the projects.  Solid Bridge Construction LLC was selected in October.  Much of the cost is covered by a $5.01 million grant from the General Land Office.

Residents in the impacted areas will be notified when work begins in their neighborhoods.
