RAILROAD CROSSING AT HIGHWAY 36, NEW WEHDEM ROAD EXPECTED TO RE-OPEN BY JAN. 11

  

Washington County officials say the railroad crossing where a train derailed on Christmas Eve should re-open soon.

According to County Judge John Durrenberger, BNSF will be out working next week at the crossing, located at Highway 36 South and New Wehdem Road, and expects to have it back open by next Saturday, January 11th

The derailment occurred just after 9:30 a.m. and involved 17 train cars.  The train had a total of 127 cars and was carrying coal.

Officials said there were no injuries in the incident and no hazards to the public.
