DUE TO WEATHER, CITY COUNCIL TO MEET ON TUESDAY
Due to the possibility of inclement weather, the Brenham City Council has moved up their first meeting of the year. Instead of meeting on Thursday, they are going to meet on Tuesday at 1pm at the Brenham City Hall.
The first item of business will the Swearing-In Ceremony for new Presiding Municipal Court Judge Jonas Lacina.
They are also going to have special recognitions for Brenham Firefighters Justin Schroeder and Josh Sebastian for 15 years of service, and Dwayne Grayson of the Facility and Fleet Maintenance Department for 10 years of service to the City of Brenham.
In preparation for the May 3 Election, Council Members are scheduled to act on an interlocal agreement with Brenham ISD and Blinn College, as well as an election services agreement with Washington County and County Election Officer Carol Jackson.
The council is expected to approve a resolution authorizing the acceptance of a $56,000 grant for body cameras for the Brenham Police Department.
Another agenda item is to authorize publication of notice of intention to issue $26.7 million in certificates of obligation for water and wastewater plant improvements. The total is made up of $22.5 million for water plant expansion, $1.1 million for main replacements in the water distribution, and $3.1 million for wastewater collection and a lift station.
In addition to that, the Council will hold an executive session to discuss acquiring property for the sewer system improvements.
Council members will also be voting on a utility extension agreement for water, wastewater, and gas services between the City of Brenham and TXDOT for their proposed new area office at 4350 Highway 36.
