ERCOT ISSUES WINTER WEATHER WATCH FROM JAN. 6-10

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has issued a Weather Watch through Friday as a result of the freezing temperatures across the state.

ERCOT Weather Watches are issued when a weather event brings forecasted higher electrical demand combined with the potential for lower reserves.

ERCOT says it currently expects grid conditions to be normal and is not asking for Texans to conserve energy at this time.  It says it will monitor conditions closely and deploy all available tools to manage the grid.

The National Weather Service out of Houston has issued a Freeze Warning and Cold Weather Advisory for counties in Southeast Texas, including Washington County.  The Freeze Warning runs until 9 a.m. today (Monday), and the Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m.
