A suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred over the weekend was taken into custody on Tuesday by members of the Sealy Police Department.

On Saturday night, officers responded to the 200 Block of Gebhardt Road in regards to an Aggravated Robbery.

According to Sealy Police, the victim was meeting a buyer for an on-line posted sale item.

The suspect, who was posing as a buyer, then allegedly robbed the victim at gunpoint.

After a further investigation, members of the Sealy Police Department’s Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations arrested the suspect, who was later identified as 18-year-old Deshawn Williams.

The arrest occurred on Tuesday morning at 10:30am in the 2100 Block of Highway 36 South. Officers say Williams was taken into custody without further incident.

Sealy Police remind the public to be vigilant when selling or exchanging items. There are two marked parking spaces at the Sealy Police Station that have been designated as “Safe Exchange Zones” that have been set aside for such transactions.

Those spaces are under 24-hour video surveillance.
