OPEN HOUSE HONORING LONG LIFE BROTHERHOOD JAN. 18 IN BURTON

The Burton community is invited out to an open house event next weekend celebrating the legacy of the Long Life Brotherhood.

The open house, hosted by the Long Life Brotherhood and the Burton Heritage Society, will be held on Saturday, January 18th from 1 to 3 p.m. Activities will take place at Matson Park and the Long Life Brotherhood Club, located at 12419 East Branch Street.

Refreshments will be offered, and visitors will be able to hear stories and learn about the history of Long Life Brotherhood.

With roots as the United Brothers of Friendship “Burton Lodge” or “Matson Lodge”, the organization has been a vital part of the African American community of Burton since the late 1800s.

Admission to the open house is free, but donations are welcome. Proceeds from the event will help preserve the 1919 lodge building.

To learn more, contact Chris Evans at 832-692-7057, email longlife1940@gmail.com or visit the Long Life Brotherhood Facebook page.
