BELLVILLE POLICE ARREST COPPER THIEVES DURING EARLY MORNING HOURS
Two suspects were arrested earlier this (Monday) morning in connection with a theft at the Bellville Recycling Center.
Bellville Police were contacted by a City of Bellville employee, who had observed a suspicious vehicle at the recycling center.
The vehicle, which left the scene, was described as a white truck with a tarp covering the back of the bed.
Police located the truck question in the parking lot of Snowflake Donuts. A search of the bed led to the discovery of two trash cans that contained city property, in this case copper.
Video surveillance showed the couple had stolen the trash cans from City Hall, and then used a tractor at the recycling center to load it onto their truck.
37-year-old Justin Earl Hickman of Brenham and 35-year-old Brandie Kay Lewis of Bellville were both arrested and charged with Burglary of a Building and Theft of Property Greater Than $2,500 But Less Than $30,000.
They were both booked into the Austin County Jail.
