WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE RELEASES 2024 REPORT

  

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has released its annual report for 2024.

Some statistics of note in the report include the sheriff’s office responding to 21,701 incidents and calls last year, down from 22,856 in 2023. However, there were more incident and case reports generated last year at 1,484 compared to 1,259 in 2023.

The Sheriff’s Office drove 958,596 miles in 2024, down from nearly 1 million miles driven in 2023. Deputies responded to 547 traffic accidents last year, up from the 451 in 2023; 180 reckless driving calls, down from 252 in 2023; 871 loose livestock calls, down from 968 in 2023, and 469 false alarms, up from 421 in 2023.

Deputies wrote 1,234 traffic tickets and issued 2,738 traffic warnings in 2024, while in 2023 those amounts were 1,584 and 3,124 respectively.

The sheriff’s office had an average of four vacancies per month.

In 2024, there were 759 suspects arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges by the sheriff’s office, down slightly from 2023’s number of 764.  A total of 929 felony and misdemeanor warrants were served last year, down from 1,034 in 2023.

Last year, 1,071 male suspects and 334 female suspects were booked into the Washington County Jail, down from 1,138 men and 388 women booked into the jail in 2023. 102 inmates were transferred to state correctional facilities last year, while 74 were transferred in 2022. The jail had an average of five jailer vacancies per month.
