MULTIPLE SUSPECTS ARRESTED AFTER PURSUITS IN BRENHAM SATURDAY

  

Several people are in custody after two police pursuits in Brenham on Saturday.

At 2 a.m., Officer Garrett Downs initiated a traffic stop at South Day Street and West Tom Green Street, but the driver evaded police at a high rate of speed. Officer Downs began pursuing the vehicle due to its reckless driving behaviors.  The suspect ended up crashing his vehicle in the 300 block of West Third Street and ran away on foot.  26-year-old Jamarcus McGruder of Brenham was placed in custody for Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle; Evading Arrest/Detention on Foot; Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport; Reckless Driving; and two warrants out of Brenham Municipal Court, one for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility and another for No Driver’s License.

Shortly past 8:30 a.m., Sergeant Jose Perez attempted to stop a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the 2400 block of Highway 290 East.  Police say the vehicle disregarded the traffic stop and sped away, resulting in a pursuit that ended in Prairie View after a trooper conducted a PIT maneuver.  Police also report that the vehicle was determined to have been stolen out of Austin.  The driver, 17-year-old Keaydon London of Houston, was placed into custody for Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz. and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.  Two other occupants, 18-year-old Chaze Terrell and 19-year-old Roy Washington, both of Houston, were placed into custody for Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.
