PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN CRASH NEAR LYONS

DPS is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian Tuesday afternoon in Burleson County.

The crash occurred at 1:30 p.m. on Highway 36, just north of Lyons.

According to DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz, a 2002 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on the highway when it had to move onto the shoulder to avoid colliding with another vehicle driving southbound in the northbound lane.

The driver of the Ford then struck a pedestrian, who was walking in the northbound shoulder.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.  The victim, a male, has not yet been identified so that troopers can notify next of kin, but they believe he was from out of state.

Sgt. Ruiz said no charges have been filed at this time, and that the driver of the Ford has been cooperative with troopers as they perform their investigation.
