Officials say the driver was traveling northbound on FM 467 near Sweet Home Road around 9:45 a.m.  The driver was approaching a curve in wet and rainy conditions when the truck traveled through the curve and struck a guardrail.

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office shared a photo showing the Blue Bell truck tipped over onto its side.

DPS said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was identified to KENS 5 of San Antonio as 50-year-old Russell Duane Ivey, a route sales representative for Blue Bell.

Blue Bell issued a statement saying they are “heartbroken” and that their thoughts and prayers are with the driver’s family and friends at this time.
