BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD EXTENDS SUPT. GILLENTINE’S CONTRACT

Brenham ISD trustees unanimously voted after an executive session on Monday to approve a one-year contract extension for Superintendent Clay Gillentine.

The contract of Brenham ISD Superintendent Clay
Gillentine was extended by the Brenham School
Board at its meeting on Monday through March 30,
2028.

Gillentine’s contract now runs through March 30, 2028.

The school board officially hired Gillentine as superintendent in March 2024.  He joined Brenham ISD in 2021 as assistant superintendent for administrative services and was named acting superintendent in October 2023, after the departure of Dr. Tylor Chaplin.

Gillentine was originally hired at an annual salary of $185,000.  Monday’s contract extension did not include a change in salary.

As part of the executive session, trustees also approved a one-year contract extension for the district’s executive staff members.

  1. It amazes me that the superintendent and executive staff get extended for up to three years and yet teachers are only on one year contracts. He didn’t get a raise but still makes more than three times what I do as a teacher.
