The Waller County Sheriff’s Office announced this (Friday) morning that 37-year-old Salvador Saucedo succumbed to his self-inflicted injuries Wednesday evening.

The sheriff’s office said they found Saucedo on Tuesday in Richards, located in eastern Grimes County, at a burning home belonging to his girlfriend.  He was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced clinically brain dead at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office said medical personnel released Saucedo’s body to his family Thursday night to determine the destination of his organs, as he was an organ donor.

Saucedo escaped the custody of the Waller County Sheriff’s Office on January 23rd while he was undergoing testing at MidCoast Medical Center Bellville.  A convicted sex offender from Bryan, Saucedo had been wanted out of Gonzales County since this past March for indecency with a child by sexual contact.  He was also wanted on a harassment warrant from College Station police and a Brazos County warrant for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

According to Waller County Sheriff Troy Guidry, after Saucedo’s escape from the hospital, he drove to Richards in a truck stolen from a construction site.  Saucedo’s girlfriend, identified as Lauri Ann Williams, was taken into custody on a charge of Hindering Apprehension.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the house fire.
