BRENHAM POLICE: PERSON OF INTEREST IN YELLOW ROSE CASE COOPERATING WITH INVESTIGATORS, ‘NO THREAT’ TO PUBLIC

Update @ 10:15 a.m.: The Brenham Police Department says it has identified the person of interest in connection to an incident at the Brenham Walmart, where a man was seen handing out yellow roses to women who reported experiencing sudden illness after receiving them. 

In an update this (Wednesday) morning, police say the individual is cooperating with investigators, and there is no threat to the public. 

Prior to the update, Chief Lloyd Powell told KWHI that the department had “very promising leads” and said the victims are considered to be in stable condition.

The police department and City of Brenham both thank the public for their quick assistance in the matter.

Original Story at 5:45 a.m.: The Brenham Police Department is warning residents and asking for help in identifying a man seen handing out yellow roses to women at the Brenham Walmart.

In a notice sent out late Tuesday, the police department says multiple recipients of the roses have reportedly experienced sudden illness soon after receiving them.

Police urge the public to remain vigilant and avoid accepting any flowers from strangers.  Anyone who sees the individual or has information regarding his identity is asked to immediately call 911 or Brenham Police Detective Andrea Guerra at 979-337-7337.  Tips can also be sent by email to resourcesBPD@cityofbrenham.org

Police say anyone who has received a yellow rose under similar circumstances and experienced symptoms, or knows someone else who has, should seek medical attention and report the incident to law enforcement.
