LADY PANTHERS SHUTOUT MUMFORD 9-0 IN DISTRICT OPENER

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team opened up District 26-2A play with a 9-0 shutout win over Mumford last (Tuesday) night.

Bailey Glaesmann got the win pitching seven innings, allowing four hits, two walks, and striking out twelve.

Burton got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning. Reagan Roemer led it off with a walk. Natalie Hodde attempted to lay down a sacrifice bunt, but ended up reaching when Mumford made a throwing error.

Amaya Williams drew a walk to load the bases. Two batters later, Paige Fritsch hit a single to score Roemer, and give Burton a 1-0 lead. Lexi Broesche followed by drawing a bases loaded walk that brought home Hodde to make it 2-0 Panthers.

In the bottom of the second inning, Hodde reached on a two-out single. Williams hit a single to left, and on an error in the outfield, Hodde came all the way around to score to increase the Lady Panther lead to 3-0.

Burton would then come up with four runs in the third inning. Fritsch led it off with a single, followed by a double from Lexi Broesche. Laci Broesche hit a two-run double to score Fritsch and Lexi to give Burton a 5-0 advantage.

Jennifer Lopez followed that with an RBI triple to increase the Lady Panther lead to 6-0. Hodde would later single home Lopez to make it 7-0.

The Lady Panthers would add an exclamation point with two more runs in the fourth inning. Roemer singled , and later Williams and Glaesmann followed with back-to-back walks. Kelsie Hohlt came in to run for Glaesmann. Fritsch would finish off the scoring with a single that score both Williams and Hohlt to give Burton a 9-0 lead.

Next up, for the Lady Panthers, they will be taking part in the Franklin Tournament, which runs Thursday thru Saturday.
