Washington County Commissioners read a proclamation at their meeting this (Tuesday) morning to recognize the faith-based nonprofit and those involved with the organization, which supports local residents in need with food, shelter, clothing, healthcare and other services. It has also served as the county’s emergency volunteer disaster agency during events like hurricanes and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Faith Mission Executive Director Reverend Randy Wells said the partnership between Faith Mission and Washington County is “like none other in the country.” He said while he may help lead Faith Mission, there are many others who are truly responsible for what the organization is and what it provides.
Another program that Faith Mission assists with is telehealth counseling services. The program started in 2013 through Texas A&M’s Telehealth Counseling Clinic, with services offered at the Washington County Health Services Center in the former Brenham Police Department. On Monday, Texas A&M University held a grand opening for a new Telehealth Institute facility on campus. County Judge John Durrenberger said Faith Mission has proved time and time again that it is ready and able to tackle whatever situation arises.
Commissioner Kirk Hanath said many great things have happened with Rev. Wells and J.D. Young at the helm of Faith Mission. Young, who serves as Faith Mission’s CEO, said the organization is grateful for the support of institutions like Washington County and the people in the community.
Faith Mission is also set to be recognized by the Brenham City Council on Thursday.
