LADY PANTHERS SHUTOUT SOMERVILE 14-0 IN DISTRICT ACTION

The Burton Lady Panthers got back to District 26-2A action last (Tuesday) night with a 14-0 victory over the Somerville Lady Yeguas. Due to the rainfall received Monday night into Tuesday morning, the game was moved from Somerville to the Burton City Park.

Burton got on the board early with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Reagan Roemer led it off with a triple, and then scored on an RBI single by Natalie Hodde. Lexi Broesche followed with an RBI double to score Hodde. After back-to-back wild pitches by Somerville, Broesche scored to give Burton a 3-0 lead.

The Lady Panthers added two more runs in the bottom of the second inning. Abigail Dowling led off the inning with a walk. Roemer then slugged a double to put two runners aboard. Hodde would then single home Dowling and Roemer to make it 5-0 Burton.

The Lady Panthers would then put the game away with nine runs in the bottom of the third inning. Aerynn Huntsman started it off by getting hit by a pitch. Laci Broesche followed with a double, and Jennifer Lopez was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Dowling drew a walk to score Huntsman. Roemer singled home Broesche to make it 7-0. Hodde singled home Lopez and Dowling to increase the Burton lead to 9-0.

Roemer would then score on a sacrifice fly by Lexi Broesche. Paige Fritsch reached on an error, which allowed Hodde to come home, and give Burton an 11-0 lead. Huntsman walked. She and Paige would both scored on a two-run double by Laci Broesche. Broesche would later score on an RBI single by Kelsie Hohlt to make it 14-0 Lady Panthers.

Bailey Glaesmann went the distance in the circle with five scoreless innings, allowing only three hits, while striking out seven.

Next up for Burton, they'll play host to North Zulch on Tuesday at 6pm.
