BLINN MEN FALL TO TRINITY VALLEY 75-49
Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
A tough game against one of NJCAA Division I's best teams resulted in a 75-49 setback for the Blinn College men's basketball team Wednesday at No. 2 Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas.
The Buccaneers concluded their regular season with a 17-13 overall record and a 13-9 region mark.
"Trinity Valley played extremely well tonight, but that's to be expected; they're ranked second in the country for a reason," Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. "We didn't play our best game tonight, but that's attributed to Trinity Valley and the level of team they have."
The two teams played to an 11-all tie early, but the Cardinals used a 34-8 run to take control and went into halftime with a 45-19 advantage.
Sophomore guard Reese Miller led the Bucs with 13 points, while sophomore forward Anthony Isaac added eight points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.
Blinn will now gear up for the Region XIV Tournament, which begins Tuesday, March 11, at Lee College in Baytown, Texas. The Bucs earned the fourth seed in the 12-team tournament and have a first-round bye. They will take on either fifth-seeded Lee College or 12th-seeded Lamar State College-Port Arthur in the quarterfinal round at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 12.
