INVESTIGATION ONGOING AFTER SHOOTING NEAR INDEPENDENCE SENDS ONE TO HOSPITAL

  

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate after a shooting last week that led to one person being hospitalized.

According to a release issued today (Tuesday) by Sheriff Trey Holleway, deputies responded at around 9 p.m. Thursday to a report of a disturbance in progress in the 12000 block of FM 50, north of Independence.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the disturbance was between two individuals and escalated into a shooting between the parties. 

Later, deputies discovered that one victim was at a local hospital after receiving a gunshot wound to the hand during the incident. 

Holleway says the shooting remains under investigation, and that no charges have been filed at this time.
