BLINN SOFTBALL STUMBLES IN TWIN BILL SWEEP AT HAND OF LSU-EUNICE
The Buccaneers and Bengals will face off in another doubleheader Saturday
The Blinn College softball team had a tough go in the Bayou State on Friday as the Buccaneers dropped a non-region doubleheader to Louisiana State University-Eunice in Eunice, La.
The Bengals swept Blinn 10-2 (five innings) and 4-3 (eight innings).
The Bucs dropped to 9-19 overall.
In the opener, Blinn built an early lead, but LSU-Eunice rallied ahead for good with a four-run third inning. The hosts added a run in the fourth and four more in the fifth to bring the run rule into effect.
Freshman Cadence Wiese had two of Blinn’s five hits, including a double and a home run.
Sophomore starting pitcher Paige Bunting worked four innings for the Bucs and took the loss.
Blinn played the Bengals tough in game two, with the teams needing extra innings to decide the finale.
Blinn trailed 2-1 heading into the fifth frame when sophomore Darian DeLeon doubled in a run before scoring on sophomore Bailey Boetjer’s single to center field.
LSU-Eunice rallied to tie the game in the sixth before pushing across the winning tally in the eighth.
Blinn finished with eight hits, including two for freshman Halle Scheel.
Freshman pitcher Madisyn Bracknell worked a complete game for the Bucs and allowed one earned run on five hits with no walks.
The Bucs and Bengals will battle it out in another twin bill beginning at noon on Saturday in Eunice.
