LAKE CREEK ROUGHS UP CUBETTES 13-1
The Lake Creek Lady Lions put an exclamation point on their dominating first half of district play with a 13-1 win over the Brenham Cubettes last (Tuesday) night at Alumni Field.
With the win, Lake Creek wrapped up the first half of district with a perfect 6-0 record, while Brenham dropped into a tie with A&M Consolidated for third place with each hold a 3-3 record.
After the first two innings. Lake Creek got on the scoreboard with four runs in the top of the third inning.
The Cubettes would get their only run in the bottom of the third. Laityn Davis reached on a two-out walk, and then came around to score on an RBI double by Avery Maurer to cut the Lions' lead to 4-1.
Lake Creek added two runs in the fourth inning and then seven runs in the fifth inning to put the game away via the mercy rule, 13-1.
Lady Lions' pitcher Sara Wiggins got the win allowing just one hit and one run over four innings, and striking out ten.
Kylie Baker took the loss for the Cubettes allowing eight earned runs over 4 1/3 innings.
Next for the Brenham, they will host College Station on Friday night at Alumni Field beginning at 6:30pm (6:05pm pregame on KWHI). That night, they are also going to be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the 2005 Cubette Softball State Championship Team.
