11, 2024 meeting of the Brenham City Council.
Schoen is retiring from the Brenham Police
Department, effective Monday.
City of Brenham Communications and Public Relations Manager Melinda Gordon confirmed that Schoen is accepting the city’s early retirement package offered to employees every five years. His last day will be Monday, after first joining the city on April 3, 2006.
Schoen was promoted to assistant chief in July 2024 and has served as part of multiple divisions in the Brenham Police Department, including as a member of the SWAT team, negotiations team and head of the drone unit.
Curtiss’ wife, Jenny Schoen, authored a message on social media congratulating him on his retirement, following 19 years with the Brenham Police Department and 25 years in law enforcement throughout his career. She wrote that he “has served the City of Brenham with every fiber of his being, giving his all, 24/7, during his tenure.”
Assistant Chief Schoen could not immediately be reached for comment.
Schoen’s retirement comes weeks after Police Chief Lloyd Powell also announced he would be retiring, after having served in the Brenham Police Department since August 1997. At the time of his announcement, his final day was targeted for April 4th.
Gordon said the city hopes to appoint an interim chief soon, but that decision is “still in process.”
Am I missing something? The Chief and Assistant Chief are both out of there this close together…hmmmm.
