RODEO GIDDINGS RETURNS THIS WEEKEND

Rodeo Giddings is making its return this weekend to the Lee County Sheriff’s Posse Arena.

The event is being held two weeks earlier this year due to Easter weekend falling on what would be their normal weekend to perform.

Rodeo Giddings will begin with Barrel Racing on Wednesday, Slack on Thursday, and then the main nights are on Friday and Saturday.

Events begin held on both main nights include bareback, steer wrestling, team roping, calf roping, bull riding, saddle bronc, and ladies’ breakaway.

Participants will have a chance at $18,000 in added money along with belt buckles, and other prizes.

Rodeo Giddings is affiliated with the Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association. Chairman Mark Goodson told the Giddings Times that PRCA riders are welcomed to participate and that many of their competitors are members of both organizations.

Events begin at 7:30pm each night. Goodson added that the first 75 kids ages 7 to 14 years old will get in free each night.

The regular ticket cost is $20 for adults, $5 for kids 7-14 years, and free for ages six and under.

In addition to that, there is a mutton bustin’ contest each night for kids 4-7 years old and weigh less than 50 pounds. Entry fee is $20.

Other events include a calf scramble, performances by the Texas Cowgirls Professional Rodeo Team, and then they will close it out on Saturday with a free dance from 10pm-12:30am featuring music by the Risky Liver Band.

Our sister station, KTEX 106, is one of the official sponsors of Rodeo Giddings.
