CITY OF NAVASOTA ENTERS CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS WITH NEW FINALIST FOR CITY MANAGER

The Navasota City Council on Monday voted to enter into contract negotiations with a new finalist for the city manager position.

Robert Hemminger
(City of Iowa Colony)

The council is proceeding with negotiations with Robert Hemminger, who has served as the city manager for Iowa Colony in Brazoria County since 2021.

Hemminger’s career before Iowa Colony has included nearly 30 years of public safety-related roles such as emergency services director, emergency management coordinator, communications manager, police officer, firefighter, deputy fire marshal/arson investigator and 911 telecommunicator.

This follows the decision of the previous finalist for the position, Theo Melancon, to withdraw his name from consideration.  The city council moved afterwards to create a city manager advisory committee made up of local residents who would provide feedback on prospective city manager candidates.

The city says a finalized contract and official hiring decision will be made in a public council session, once an agreement is reached.
