BURTON PANTHERS FALL AT MUMFORD 3-0

Tyler Witt (Burton ISD)

The Mumford Mustangs snapped the five game winning streak for the Burton Panthers with a 3-0 win last (Tuesday) night.

Mumford scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a pair of errors by the Panthers. They would then add a third run in the second inning, and that would be all they needed.

Burton managed just four hits in the game. Tyler Witt and Logun Tosta led off the game with a pair of singles, but were left stranded on the base paths. Braydon Martin had a single in the second, and one in the sixth.

Eli Jaeger took the tough luck loss on the hill. He went five innings allowing four hits, one walk, three runs, only one was earned, and struck out four. Reuben Rodriguez pitched a scoreless sixth inning.

The Panthers drop to 10-7 overall, and 3-2 in district. Next up, they will host Mumford in a re-match on Friday at 6:30pm in Burton.
