LEE CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE HOSTING JUNIOR DEPUTY ACADEMY APRIL 26
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the second installment of its Junior Deputy Academy.
This year’s program will be held on Saturday, April 26th from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the sheriff’s office, located at 2122 FM 448 in Giddings.
The academy is designed to provide Lee County students between 3rd and 5th grades with an understanding of what deputies do through classroom presentations and educational, hands-on activities and experiences.
Children will learn about basic first aid, cyber safety, stranger danger, bully prevention, physical fitness, patrol functions and mock tactical operations.
The academy will conclude with a special graduation ceremony, where parents can see their junior deputies be sworn in by Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger and receive a specially issued badge.
Drinks, snacks and lunch will be provided.
Applications for the Junior Deputy Academy can be picked up from the sheriff’s office or local schools, or they can be downloaded from the sheriff’s office’s website, www.leecountysherifftx.org. Completed applications can be returned to the sheriff’s office in person, by mail, or by emailing savana.lehmann@co.lee.tx.us.
