Connor McCaffety, along with his parents, Clint and Meghan, were on their way from Connor’s golf tournament in Brenham to a baseball game in Rogers.

According to DPS, the accident occurred while their vehicle and another were stopped in a construction zone in the 6000 block of Highway 36, south of Milano.  DPS says for an unknown reason, an 18-wheeler traveling behind the two vehicles failed to stop and crashed into them both.

Rogers ISD Superintendent Duana Brashear said, “Our entire district, and the communities we serve, are impacted by this loss.  Support for students and staff will continue to be available in the days and weeks to come.  Counselors are on site at all campuses.”

A steer will be auctioned off tomorrow (Friday) at the Milam County Livestock Auction.  Proceeds will support Kelsey McCaffety, the surviving daughter and sister who was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident.  Contributions can also be made at Buckholts State Bank in Rogers.
