BURTON PANTHERS CRUSH SOMERVILLE 15-0

The Burton Panthers made quick work of the Somerville Yeguas with a 15-0 win in a game that was called after three innings.

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead by scoring nine runs in the first inning. Tyler Witt led it off with a single and Logun Tosta walked. Two batters later, Eli Jaeger slugged a two-run double to make it 2-0 Panthers. Braydon Martin singled, and Ryder Biggs was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Houston Hodde drew a walk to score Jaeger. Then, Brady Griffin singled home Martin and Biggs to increase the Burton lead to 5-0.

Mark Odom walked to load the bases again. Witt came up for the second time in the inning and also drew a walk, which scored Hodde. Tosta hit into a fielder's choice that scored Griffin to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead. Rueben Rodriguez closed out the scoring in the inning with a two-run single that brought home Odom and Tosta to make it 9-0 Panthers.

Burton would tack on three more runs in the bottom of the second inning. Jaeger and Martin drew back-to-back walks. Jaeger stole second, and later scored on an RBI single by Biggs. Hodde walked to re-load the bases. Odom followed two batters after that with a two-run single to score Martin and Biggs to give the Panthers a 12-0 advantage.

Three more runs by Burton in the bottom of the third inning put the game away. Coy Gurka and Isaac Matthies drew back-to-back walks. Jaeger singled to load the bases. Martin reached on an error that allowed Martin to score. Biggs finished it off with a two-run double that scored Matthies and Jaeger to give the Panthers a 15-0 win.

Jaeger pitched all three innings for Burton allowing just one hit and striking out five.

The win improves Burton to 11-8 overall and 4-3 in district. They are currently in third place. The Panthers and Yeguas will play each other again on Friday night in Somerville at 6:30pm.
