APRIL SALES TAX ALLOCATIONS DOWN FOR WASHINGTON CO.
Sales and tax distributions across Washington County were down for the month of April.
Washington County’s rebate this month came out to $337,613, down 5.05 percent from last April, when the county received $355,598. So far in 2025, collections for the county are still up by 6.56 percent from last year, with a year-to-date total of $1,586,893 compared to $1,489,112 a year ago.
The City of Brenham took in $688,653 for April, a reduction of 12.46 percent from the $786,740 received in April 2024. Through the first four months of the year, the city has collected $3,535,565, which is 7.22 percent more than what it tallied through the same timeframe in 2024, at $3,297,304.
The City of Burton brought in $9,133 for the month, down 28.15 percent from its $12,712 rebate last April. The city’s receipts for the year to this point are down 35.06 percent from last year, coming in at $43,516 in comparison to $67,010.
According to Comptroller Glenn Hegar, the state paid out $995.5 million in local sales tax allocations for April, down 3.5 percent from April 2024 but still up 4.4 percent for the year so far.
April’s allocations are based on sales made in February by businesses that report tax monthly.
