Over 700 employees participated in 40 service projects across 35 service area communities, including in Brenham, where they picked up brush, cleaned park signs, refilled bird feeders and landscaped along the Hohlt Park Nature Trail.

Other projects included painting metal pipe fencing at Veterans Park in Giddings, adding mulch to the playground area at Hempstead City Park, and painting cattle pens at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange.

LCRA General Manager Phil Wilson said Steps Forward Day started 10 years ago as a way to give back to Texas communities, helping to work on projects they may not have the time or resources to complete on their own.  He said, “It’s all about making a difference in the communities we serve and supporting our fellow Texans.  This is community service in action.”
