CUBETTES CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT WITH 18-0 WIN OVER RUDDER

Cubette Softball Senior Night (Brenham ISD)

The Brenham Cubette Softball Team used a dominating first inning to defeat the Rudder Lady Rangers 18-0 and clinch a playoff spot last (Tuesday) night at Alumni Field.

The Cubettes put up 16 runs in the first inning, and never had to look back. Avery Maurer led it off by slugging the second pitch of her at-bat over the left field fence for her sixth home run of the season.

Brenham went on to send 19 batters to the plate in the inning. The Cubettes had seven hits, seven walks, one hit batter, and two reach on errors.

Brenham tacked on one more run in the second, and one in the third inning.

Kylie Baker got the start and went the first three innings to get her 10th win. Heidi Busker closed it out with two scoreless innings in the fourth and fifth.

With the win, the Cubettes have clinched a playoff spot alongside Lake Creek, College Station, and A&M Consolidated.

Prior to the game, Brenham also honored their Senior class: Avery Maurer, Sarah Mabie, Kinley Antkowiak, Stella Landry, Heidi Busker, Liliana Gonzales, and student manager Addison Smith.

The Cubettes have one more regular season game at Lake Creek tomorrow (Thursday) night at 6:30pm. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 6:05pm.
