LEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING THREAT REPORT AT DIME BOX ISD
The Lee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a threat that has been reported at Dime Box ISD.
On Tuesday evening, following normal business hours, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a report concerning a potential threat to student safety at the Dime Box Independent School District.
According to Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger, initial information indicated that several students overheard another student making statements about bringing a firearm to school on or about today’s (Wednesday’s) date.
In response to these reports, the Lee County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division initiated an active investigation to determine the credibility and source of the threat.
At this time, the Sheriff's Office is working closely with school officials to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Additional law enforcement presence may be seen in the area as a precautionary measure.
Durrenberger said that the Lee County Sheriff's Office takes all threats to school safety seriously.
