PANTHERS FALL ON THE ROAD TO MILANO 5-3
The Burton Panther Baseball Team suffered a setback in district play last (Tuesday) night as they lost to the Milano Eagles on the road 5-3.
Milano got on the board with a run in the bottom of the first inning to make it 1-0 Eagles.
Burton rallied to take the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Logun Tosta and Rueben Rodriguez opened the frame with back-to-back singles. Braydon Martin singled, and on an error, Tosta scored. Ryder Biggs would then single home Rodriguez to make it 2-1 Burton.
The Panthers held the lead until the bottom of the fifth when Milano came back with four runs re-take the lead 5-2.
Burton added one more run in the top of the sixth. Rodriguez singled, and then came around to score on an RBI double by Biggs, which made it 5-3 Milano. The Panthers could not get any closer.
Eli Jaeger took the loss in the circle. He went six innings allowing five unearned runs, four hits, three walks, and striking out seven.
Burton is now 12-9 overall and 5-4 in district.
The series shifts back to Burton on Thursday night for a 6:30pm game.
