ACCIDENTS, GRASS FIRE AMONG FIVE CALLS FOR BRENHAM FD BETWEEN TUESDAY, EARLY WEDNESDAY
The Brenham Fire Department responded to three calls on Tuesday and two early this (Wednesday) morning.
Shortly before 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were called out to a transportation incident in the 1300 block of Highway 290 West. Units arrived to find a two-vehicle accident and checked for injuries, but no one was hurt. Once the vehicles were removed from the roadway, the department returned to service.
Just before 12:15 p.m., units went out to Krause Elementary School, 2201 East Stone Street, for a fire alarm sounding. They found nothing showing from the exterior of the building and discovered that a smoke detector was causing the alarm to go off. No fire or smoke was found inside the building, so the alarm was reset.
A few minutes after 2:30 p.m., BFD members received a report of a grass fire in the 1600 block of FM 2935. They made location to find a controlled burn that had gotten out of control. The department extinguished the area on fire and cleared the call.
At 1:15 a.m. today, units were dispatched for a fire alarm in the 400 block of South Saeger Street. Nothing was showing from the outside of the building, and firefighters found a smoke detector with batteries that needed to be replaced. Upon replacing the batteries, they returned to the station.
Around 6 a.m., the department responded to a report of a transportation incident with entrapment in the 4000 block of Highway 290 East. No one was entrapped, per law enforcement on location, but there were fluids leaking on the roadway. Units cleaned up the spill and returned to service after the vehicle was removed from the roadway.
