WASHINGTON CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE REPORTS ARRESTS FOR EVASION, DRIVING WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE AND NO LICENSE

  

Three people were arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office between Friday and Sunday.

Just before 9:30 a.m. Friday, Corporal Vasquez attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 5500 block of Old Chappell Hill Road for disregarding a stop sign.  According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop, but after a brief pursuit, they came to a stop in the 2100 block of Old Chappell Hill Road.  Upon making contact, the driver stated he did not see the emergency overhead lights nor hear the sirens.  37-year-old Miguel Angel Ferman Mendez of Friendswood was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle.

Around 10 p.m. Sunday, Sergeant Himebaugh initiated a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Prairie Lea Street for a defective stop lamp.  The sheriff’s office says that the driver, 18-year-old Salvador Erli Lara Baires of Brenham, did not possess a driver’s license and was taken into custody.  He was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with No Driver’s License.

Close to 11:30 p.m., Corporal Zavala conducted a traffic stop at Highway 36 North and Dixie Road for expired registration.  The driver, 34-year-old Belinda Obayuwana of Houston, reportedly had a suspended license and was placed into custody.  She was taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with Driving While License Invalid Enhanced.
