BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD CANVASSES ELECTION RESULTS
The Brenham School Board on Monday canvassed the returns from the May 3rd election.
Trustees certified the tallies and declared the results official for the election determining the winners of the Position 5, 6 and 7 seats on the board.
According to the summary report, there were 3,529 ballots cast for both the Brenham ISD and City of Brenham elections, with 22,473 registered voters in total and a voter turnout of 15.7 percent.
Newly elected trustees are scheduled to be sworn in at the board’s next regular meeting on Monday at 6 p.m. at Brenham High School.
In other business, the board selected the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET) as the approved provider for the Texas Education Agency’s Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities implementation grant.
The grant will provide training and support for best practices in math instruction between kindergarten and fifth grade. The total for the grant is $224,000, with half required to go to an approved provider.
