BURTON WINS REGIONAL SEMI-FINAL, WILL FACE SHINER IN REGIONAL FINAL

The Burton Panthers have won the 2A Regional Semi-Finals! After a hard fought series in Bastrop that required a game 3 between the Burton Panthers and Flatonia Bulldogs, the Panthers will be the team advancing to the 2A Regional Final.

After losing game 1 6-4, the Burton Panthers came back to Bastrop on Friday and had a dominant performance in a game 2 win 14-4. That win set the stage for a final game 3 to decide the series on Saturday in which the Panthers were able to carry over their momentum at the plate over into the game and close it out.

The game began with another 3 run first inning to jump out to an early lead thanks to a lead off single by Tyler Witt followed by consecutive RBI doubles by Ryder Biggs and Ruben Rodriguez capped off by an RBI single for Braydon Martin. The Panthers got out to that lead and never let go. Ryder Biggs backed up his bats with a complete game only allowing 4 hits and 2 runs.

The Panthers then added another 4 runs throughout the game with RBIs from Ryder Biggs, Eli Jaeger and Ruben Rodriguez to give them a 7-2 lead heading into the 7th and final frame. With 2 outs in the final inning, the ball was hit on a short chopper to pitcher Ryder Biggs who collected it and threw it to first, erupting the Burton crowd as they punched their ticket to the Regional Final against Shiner.

The matchup will be a 3 game series played at Bastrop again with a double header on Thursday starting at 5:00pm and a 3rd game on Saturday at 3:00pm if necessary. KWHI pregame coverage will begin 30 minutes before each game and the winner will go to the 2025 UIL Texas State Baseball Championship!
