BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD ACCEPTS DONATIONS FOR FINE ARTS, MCJROTC PROGRAMS
Brenham ISD accepted several community contributions toward school programs at Monday’s school board meeting.

Festival present the Brenham School Board on
Monday with a check for $4,000. The proceeds will
go toward the Brenham High School art activity
fund and the Brenham High School choir.
Among the donations were a check for $4,000 from the Texas Arts and Music Festival for high school art and choir students. Each year, the fall festival in downtown Brenham raises funds for educational resources supporting the advancement of local arts.
Festival President Mark Rosenbaum said the festival appreciates how involved students and the school community have gotten with participating and helping put on the event.
The donation includes $3,000 for the Brenham High School art activity fund for the program’s continued involvement in the festival’s Student Enrichment Day. The other $1,000 is going to the Brenham High School choir to sponsor expenses related to their upcoming performance at a Houston Astros game on June 26th.
The board also accepted the donation of a grand piano from the late Patricia and Glen Daughtey. Valued at $26,295, Choir Director Amanda Seymour said the piano is “in pristine condition” and will serve choir students and fine arts education across Brenham ISD.
Additionally, the board accepted donations of $3,040 from Blake Sawyer and $2,500 from Blue Bell Creameries to help with the purchase of national championship rings for the MCJROTC program. MCJROTC Captain Jeffrey Bayse said these donors are some of the many across Brenham and Washington County who have backed the program in a significant way.
The donations will go into the program’s activity account to purchase the rings. According to Bayse, the cost of the rings is $160 each. For 50 students, the cost will come out to roughly $8,000.
