LCRA TO OFFER TWO $100,000 COMMUNITY GRANTS TO CELEBRATE GRANT PROGRAM’S 30TH YEAR

In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Lower Colorado River Authority’s (LCRA) community grant program, LCRA is upping the amount of money available for grants over the next fiscal year and plans to award two $100,000 grants.

The new grants will be in addition to the grants of up to $50,000 that LCRA awards twice a year for projects such as improving community centers, fire stations and sports fields, and providing new gear to first responders.  The two $100,000 grants will only be offered during LCRA’s 2026 fiscal year, which runs from this July to June 2026.

The community grants program was established in October 1995, with the first grants awarded in March 1996.  Since then, the program has awarded 2,137 grants totaling more than $54 million.

LCRA General Manager Phil Wilson said the LCRA’s goal is to support the Texans it serves, and that these two new grants will celebrate the thousands of grants given out over the years and assist with two substantial community projects.

One $100,000 grant will be awarded after the July application period, which opens on July 1st at https://lcra.org/grants and closes at midnight on July 31st.  The second grant will be awarded next year after the January application period.
