The Round Top Family Library will soon be able to upgrade its community center annex after receiving grant funding from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.

The grant of $17,478 will go along with $6,000 in matching funds from the Round Top Library Association to build an ADA-accessible deck and outdoor classroom space, combining the library’s education annex and agriculture building.

The outdoor classroom will support programs like Junior Master Gardeners, yoga and STEM classes while also serving as a meeting space for book clubs, wellness programs and other events.

Round Top Family Library Executive Director Craig Moreau said the new space will open up additional opportunities to host weekly programs, support workforce development and offer a place to reconnect with nature and the outdoors.  He said, “This grant is helping us create a space that reflects our core values: a great library, a center for education and a true community gathering place for all abilities.”

The LCRA’s Community Development Partnership Program assists volunteer fire departments, local governments, emergency responders and nonprofit organizations with various capital improvement projects.  Applications for the next round of community grants will open in July at https://lcra.org/cdpp
