BRENHAM CELEBRATING NATIONAL ICE CREAM MONTH WITH SPECIAL EVENTS
As the newly-named Ice Cream Capital of Texas, Brenham has several ways to celebrate this National Ice Cream Month.
One of those activities is the inaugural Sundae Stroll art contest in downtown. Similar to the Spring Eggs Art Walk and Scarecrow Extravaganza, businesses in downtown will have ice cream cone art on display throughout the month of July. The public can vote for their favorite art by picking up voting pamphlets at the Brenham & Washington County Visitor Center.
Elsewhere, free Blue Bell ice cream floats will be served up in Alamo Alley at the “Summer Showcase” performances every Saturday from 5 to 6:30 p.m., before “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes”.
On July 19th, hand-dipped Blue Bell ice cream will be offered during the “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” concert that begins at 7 p.m.
To mark National Ice Cream Day on July 20th, Blue Bell Creameries will have free ice cream in the parlor from noon to 3 p.m. The Blue Bell Country Store will also be open for gifts and souvenirs.
Brenham was officially designated as the Ice Cream Capital of Texas after a resolution was passed during the latest session of the Texas Legislature, filed by Representative Trey Wharton (R-Huntsville) and sponsored by Senator Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham). The title will remain until the 10th anniversary of the resolution’s passage.
